Visiting Tina in NYC

May 16-May 18, 2008:

Yeah, it was Friday, work was over and I grabbed my bag and went to the bus stop in Reading downtown. Only 3 hours in the bus laid ahead of me. And then it was 7.30pm and I arrived at Port Authority Bus Terminal and Tina already waited for me.
Of course, it was raining but we could take the subway and only had to walk a few minutes then. We arrived at the hotel (were I illegal slept...*öchöm*) but who cares:-) Nobody was interested in me.
We chatted a bit and after a while we decided to go party. But where? So we started with a cocktail at the Hardrock-Café and then a beer in the 48th floor of the Marriott-Hotel.The bar was really cool and rotating. We had a phenomenal view on the Times Square and Manhattan. Very nice. And we had a lot of fun with the elevators...

But at 1.30am they closed and kicked us out. So we had no clue where to go. But hey, why do they have so cute police men?!How do you say, "The police, your friend and helper"(ähm, I think that´s not really the correct translation...*lol* but you know what I mean...).

We just asked them where to go and chatted a bit with the really cute guy. I think he really would have liked to join us, but unfortunately he had to guard the Hardrock-Café. Bad luck:-)

He recommended us to go to second avenue. We did that and found a nice club. Okay, it was a Hip Hop Club, normally not my taste, but we tried it and we had a lot of fun. I bet I´ll become a big Hip Hop Fan over here*lol*
After really tiring efforts to held off a drunken and disgusting Ukrainian guy and a conversation with Peter Peng and his Indian/Korean/Whatever friends who support the Dutch National soccer team(ahhh) it was 4am and the club closed. Then we met Jorge, a Chilean guy. He was nice and we talked for a while. Then we went home and fell asleep.
Saturday morning/afternoon started not that early. We were raelly lucky, no rain, the sun was shining and so we went down to the South Seaport. We had some breakfast/Lunch at Subway and then just chilled a bit in the sun. We watched a very funny escape artist who did a show about 1h but I think only 10 min was about his main work, escaping from a strait jacket and some big chains. He was talking and talking and it was really fun watching him. But I would never pay $10 for that show like he wanted:-) And of course, he accepted no coins... Okay!:-)
After that funny show we went shopping. At first I bought a big Spongebob-Poster:-) and then we finally went to the Abercrombie&Fitch store*yippie* We spent too much money there (but have nice clothes now) and then went to the Staten Island Ferry to do a free ride. We saw the Statue of Liberty, I got seasick although it was not really shaky and we took a lot of beautiful pics. Afterwards we strolled around the nice Battery Park, passing Ground Zero and the Wall Street where we stopped for a while and then back to Times Square. And there we hit the Billabong store and again spent too much money:-)And you won´t believe who looked down at us from a big poster just in the middle of the Times Square... I almost passed out. Isn´t it enough to have them in Germany, no they follow me to the States-TOKIO HOTEL. It seems that they are big stars here. Horrible!!I only say, "Schrei"!!:-)
It startedd raining again and so we went back home. We wanted to see "Deutschland sucht den Superstar"(German Idol)because today was the last show and we wanted to know who won it, Fady or Thomas. Of course, the internet stream didn´t work and we hardly couldn´t see anything. So we had a nice skype-conference with Julia and after a while we wanted to know the result and hey, Thomas Godoj is the new German Superstar. Very cool, but Fady is also very cool and Julia and Tina, don´t be sad, Fady will also do it in the business!
Then it was around midnight and we decided to go. I think Jorge was already waiting for us in "Sin Sin Club" and we hurried to get there. So, in the cab and then go. But, you won´t believe, there was a traffic jam in the middle of the night. It sucked!! We finally arrived and spent an hour in the club but then decided to go somewhere else. I wanted some rock. And I got it. A very nice (my taste of nice) club just round the corner of the "Sin Sin" and I felt like home:-) Little club downstairs, stylish guys, cider and good music. That´s all I need to have a good night:-) We danced till the end (4am) and then got a Falafel. We came home at 6.30am and I just changed into my sport clothes and went out running in the Central Park!! It was so nice!! Tina might thought I´m crazy... But after a hour I was very happy to just fall asleep:-)
The Sunday was really shit, it was cold and rainy. We went again to Subway to grab a sandwich and then a hot drink at Starbucks and then it was already time to get my stuff and go to the bus. I had to return to Reading. So, of course, my bus was full but I could take the Harrisburg bus and later changed to the Reading one. Came back home at 9pm and I was so tired:-)
So, thanks Tina for the nice weekend, it was great:-) and have a lot of fun in your remaining NYC time!!
